Rondout Savings opens lines of communication with the Spanish speaking community

Rondout Savings Bank’s recent promotion of Brittany Schatzel to a Customer Service Representative (CSR) Supervisor position will provide area Spanish speakers searching for a local bank a comfortable environment where they can successfully manage their personal and business checking, savings and loans.
“With my ability to speak Spanish, I personally hope to bring more Spanish speaking clients to the bank,” Schatzel said. “We have a lot of Spanish speaking people in our community. With my promotion to CSR, it is now beneficial to our customers that I will be able to sit down, listen to their needs and help them on a more personal level. I look forward to working with the Spanish speaking community and I feel we have a lot to offer.”
Schatzel started the new position in the beginning of March at the Ulster Avenue Branch. In addition to supervisor responsibilities, Schatzel will be opening new accounts for customers and dealing directly with customers to better understand their needs.
“I am very excited to start my new position. It will not only give me added responsibility, but it will also broaden my knowledge and experience in the banking industry,” she stated.
Schatzel received a Bachelor’s degree at SUNY New Paltz in 2012 in Spanish and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. The new CSR Supervisor also took a translating course through SUNY Ulster in April of 2013. Schatzel was hired at Rondout Savings Bank in July of 2014 as a full time Teller at the Broadway branch.
“I never thought about a career in banking until I started working at Rondout Savings Bank, and I am really glad I did. I love working here. I look forward to coming to work in the morning, and I leave with a smile on my face at night, which I think is one of the most important things about the job.”
